Meet Jazmin Manning: Bringing Fresh Energy and Vital Support to Banana Biosecurity
The Australian Banana Growers’ Council (ABGC) is proud to welcome the newest member of its Grower Support (Biosecurity) team, Jazmin Manning. With a wealth of experience in fast-paced, highly organised roles—and a fresh set of eyes on the industry—Jazmin is settling into her new position as Admin Officer, a role that promises variety, challenge and, most importantly, meaningful contribution.
While Jazmin is the first to admit that this new position is a complete change of lane from her previous career, it’s quickly becoming clear that her skillset is exactly what the biosecurity team needs.
“I can’t give you a polished ‘box top’ version of what I’ll be doing,” Jazmin says with a smile, “but I think that’s the beauty of it. There’s space to shape the role—and that means I get to support the team wherever they need it most.”
A Foundation Built on Organised Chaos
Before joining the ABGC, Jazmin spent over 12 years in community pharmacy, including working in remote and maritime support roles, managing everything from medication logistics to first aid preparation for sea-going vessels across the Gulf of Carpentaria.
“It was A to Z. Packing, scheduling, staff training, stock control, rostering—you name it,” she says. “I thrived on the variety.”
That same adaptability saw her succeed in real estate, where she managed residential properties, juggled tenant relationships and coordinated maintenance and compliance—all while being the reliable all-rounder every team needs.
In both roles, Jazmin found her niche: working behind the scenes to ensure everything ticks along smoothly, even when chaos looms.
Admin Officer, But So Much More
Officially, Jazmin’s role is administrative support—but her impact will stretch far beyond filing and scheduling.
More than just tasks, she brings a real appreciation for the bigger picture.
A Passion for Purpose
Despite being new to the role, Jazmin is already connecting with the significance of her work.
“You think it’s just a small office out in the middle of nowhere, but then you realise the reach and impact this industry has,” she explains. “Farming in North Queensland isn’t just local—it supports supply chains and communities across Australia.”
This growing understanding is fuelling her passion for the role and the industry. And it’s exactly that community focus that resonates so deeply with her personal life.
Mum, Multi-Tasker, and True Aussie All-Rounder
Outside of work, Jazmin juggles life on 10 acres with her two young daughters and a fiancé who works away for half the year. Between school runs, cooking, dog-wrangling, and even spider-fighting, her days are full—but she wouldn’t have it any other way.
“My hobby at the moment? My kids,” she laughs. “But I do love fishing, camping, and sitting at the pub for a yarn when I get the chance.”
Her strong family values and grounded lifestyle are a perfect fit for the banana industry, which is built on families, relationships, and community resilience.
A Welcome Addition to a Vital Program
As the banana industry continues to navigate biosecurity challenges, support roles like Jazmin’s are more important than ever. Surveillance officers, comms staff, field teams—they all rely on strong internal systems to stay efficient and focused.
And in Jazmin, they’ve found exactly the right person to keep things humming.
“I hope I can be helpful,” she says humbly. But it’s already clear: she’s going to be far more than that.
Welcome to the team, Jazmin. We’re excited to have you on board.
